Brochure Design & Print

Professional brochure design and print without the guesswork

Designing a brochure is only half the job. Once the artwork has been approved, you're suddenly faced with a whole host of decisions that can affect both the finished result and the overall cost.

Paper stocks, brochure formats, binding methods, print finishes, mailing requirements and print quantities all play an important role. Unless you commission brochures regularly, it's completely understandable not to know where to start.

With a background in commercial print, I help businesses make those decisions with confidence. Whether you're producing a company brochure, product catalogue or annual report, I'll guide you through the options before managing the complete brochure design and print process from concept through to delivery.

If you're simply looking for the creative side, you can also explore my brochure designer services.

Avoiding costly brochure printing mistakes

My role is to remove the uncertainty, helping you avoid unnecessary costs while ensuring the finished brochure reflects the quality of your business.

Choosing the wrong format could increase your postage costs. Ordering too many brochures might leave you with boxes of outdated brochures in 12 months time. The wrong paper stock can completely change how your brand is perceived and premium print finishes can completely fall flat if they're not executed effectively.

Then there's the practical side. Understanding print terminology, checking proofs, managing production deadlines and hoping everything arrives on time for an exhibition, product launch or client meeting.

These are the sorts of decisions I've helped businesses make for years.

"Tom put a catalogue together for a forthcoming exhibition. He gave good advice on stock and formatting and made helpful creative suggestions. He worked quickly and kept me up to date with progress at each stage. Recommended."

Choosing the right brochure print specification

Every brochure is different.  Some are designed to support a sales team. Others are handed out at exhibitions, mailed to prospective clients or used to showcase premium products and services.

Understanding how the brochure will be used helps shape the decisions we make from the very beginning, resulting in a publication that's fit for purpose rather than simply looking good on screen.

Choosing the right brochure format

The size of your brochure influences far more than its appearance. Format affects print costs, mailing, storage, portability and even how people interact with it. Sometimes A4 is the obvious choice. Other times a square brochure or something less conventional creates far more impact.

I'll work with you to decide on one that's right for your audience and goals.

Selecting the right paper stock

The saying 'never judge a book by it's cover' doesn't apply here. Paper stocks can transform a brochure printing project. It helps your clients and customers form an opinion about your business before they've even read a word.

A beautifully textured uncoated stock can often feel more premium than a heavier gloss paper. Likewise, there's no point paying for an expensive paper if it's going to be handed out in large volumes at a trade exhibition and end up in the recycling bin an hour later.

Choosing the right paper is about balancing presentation, practicality and budget.

Choosing the right brochure binding

A 12 page company brochure has very different requirements to a 200 page product catalogue. Whether that's saddle stitched, perfect bound, PUR bound or something more bespoke, the binding should suit both the content and the way the brochure will be used.

I'll recommend the most appropriate option based on the project rather than simply the most expensive one.

Premium brochure print finishes

Foiling, embossing, spot UV and specialist laminates can all create a fantastic first impression but they can also become expensive distractions if they're added for the sake of it.

A beautifully printed brochure on the right paper stock creates far more impact than one loaded with every available print finish. I'll help you decide where premium finishes genuinely add value and where your budget is better invested elsewhere.

Why clients trust me with brochure design and print

Over the last 20 years, I've helped print and supply everything from simple business cards, bookmarks, and company brochures through to large packaging projects for brands including Disney and Mattel. This experience means I'm just as comfortable discussing print specifications as I am designing the brochure itself.

I take the pain out of print and help with:

  • Digital and litho print expertise, understanding when each process is most appropriate.
  • Advice on formats, paper stocks, binding and finishes to help you achieve the right result without overspending.
  • Managing quotations, artwork, proofs, production and delivery from start to finish.
  • A single point of contact throughout the project, reducing the need to coordinate multiple suppliers.
  • Practical advice based on experience, helping you avoid costly mistakes before they happen.

Ultimately, my role is to make the process straightforward. You don't need to understand print terminology or worry whether you've made the right specification decisions. That's what I'm here for.
